How successful is my music video ?
Overall I believe that my music video was a success as my group and I used ranges of different camera shots , editing styles and technology to create the music video. We made use of goodwin's theory as our music video was both narrative and performance based. The music video follows a narrative that is based on a couple that had a beautiful relationship and then moves to present time where they have broken up. It also has performance as the artist is singing to the camera in front of different backgrounds to the camera. he music video also used range of costumes the artist was seen wearing which is conventional to the pop genre as artists in a pop music video are seen wearing are very glamorous however age appropriate.
Most pop music video are more performance based and my music video uses a mixture of both narrative and performance which is very conventional to the pop genre as female artist in pop music videos perform to the camera to involve the audience.
In pop music videos artists are represented as happy and enjoying life. This is evident at many points in my music video as the artist is enjoying life with her love however it contrasts with the fact that in present time she is not happy.
Pop music videos use settings and dressing to represent the genre. This is shown throughout the music video as we see range of settings used throughout.
My music video also uses uses a range of location such as the strand , london bridge and london eye. This is very stereotypical as pop music videos are known to use range of settings to promote the pop genre.
This is a song by Cheryl Cole who is a well known pop singer, This song by Cheryl Cole is called 'fight for this love' and is similar to Leopn Lewi's 'Glassheart' as its a pop music video , it is an upbeat song that talks about a broken heart and fighting for the one she loves. Just like our music video 'Glassheart' this music video also uses range of camera shots. There is a mixture of mid, close and long shots. There are range of shots of Cheyrl Cole singing close to the camera looking directly into the camera. Similarly in our music video there are range of shots that include the artist looking directly into the camera and is looking glamorous while singing to the camera.
The artist is wearing glamorous clothing in this music video by Cheryl Cole. She is seen wearing multiple glamorous outfits. Each outfit has a different colour and is very attractive as sequence is used in these dresses. Similarly in our music video the artist wears different dresses throughout and each dress has attractive colours and very girly colours that are very conventional to the pop genre.
Editing is used in both these music videos. I have used jump cut throughout the music video as variety of shots have been used that follow one to another. There are mixture of dancing, narrative and performance based shots throughout the music video. In Cheryl Cole's music video range of shots have been used aswell as the msuic video has used jump cut as form of editing.
You have made a start in comparing your music video with another successful pop music video. You have included some similarities, such as the micro elements, however, these comparisons need to be discussed in further detail.
